This bird feeder is made of durable metal with a gray powder-coated finish. Unlike traditional platform bird feeders, this one features a side opening for convenient placement of seeds, peanuts, larvae, or mealworms. It can also be mounted on a wall or fence. Its sloped eaves allow rainwater to fall directly onto the top and drain outward, avoiding the food in the feeding tray, keeping it dry.
According to the bird feeding guides from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the RSPB (Royal Society for the Protection of Birds), thrushes (such as robins and blackbirds), pigeons, and doves prefer to feed from the ground or on flat surfaces.
